These terms apply when you use the Rowan mobile app or rowancooks.co. By using Rowan, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Using Rowan

You must be at least 13 years old to use Rowan. You are responsible for keeping your account details secure and for what happens under your account.

Please do not:

• Use Rowan for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms other people.
• Attempt to access our systems, or anyone else's account, without authorisation.
• Automate, scrape or otherwise call our services outside the app itself.
• Attempt to extract, resell or repackage the recipe or voice generation behind Rowan.

We may suspend or end access to accounts that do these things.

Recipes, cooking and food safety

This is the important part. Rowan's recipes are generated automatically by software. They are suggestions, not professional culinary or nutritional advice, and they are not reviewed by a person before you see them.

• You are responsible for your own food safety. Use your own judgement about cooking temperatures, times, ingredient freshness and safe handling. Verify that meat, fish, poultry and eggs are cooked through, whatever a recipe says.
• Allergies. You can tell Rowan about allergies and it will try to avoid those ingredients. This is a best effort by automated software and must not be relied on as a safety measure. Always read ingredient lists yourself. If you have a serious allergy, check every recipe before cooking it.
• Dietary needs. Rowan does not provide medical or nutritional advice. Talk to a qualified professional about any diet that matters to your health.
• Hot surfaces, sharp tools, appliances. Cooking carries ordinary physical risk. Take normal care, and never leave heat unattended because an app is keeping time for you.

Your content

Recipes you save, photos you take and the settings you configure belong to you. We store them to provide the app. You give us permission to store and process them for that purpose, and for nothing else.

Photos from Unsplash

Recipe photos come from Unsplash and are stock images of similar dishes, not photographs of the recipe Rowan wrote for you. They are shown with the photographer's credit and remain subject to the Unsplash License.

Availability

We do our best to keep Rowan running, but we do not promise it will always be available or error free. Features may change or be removed. Parts of Rowan depend on third-party services and an internet connection.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile & Settings. This permanently removes your saved recipes, cooking history and settings, and cannot be undone.

Disclaimers and liability

Rowan is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from your reliance on a generated recipe. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app. Continuing to use Rowan after a change means you accept the updated terms.
